Sir Sam's Challenge

Registration for the Sir Sam's Challenge will open in December.

Add some fun to your Sunday afternoons with this easy style of racing geared for the whole family. Ski or snowboard, young or young-at-heart, new or expert — all are welcome to compete! Registration available online only. Rates are subject to HST and online service provider fee.

The Race

Races are scheduled to begin at 12pm on each race day at the top of Cash Register. The race concludes when there are no participants waiting at the top of the hill. Racers arriving after 2pm may miss their opportunity to race - missed runs will not be rescheduled, credited, or refunded. Full series participants will be assigned a race number for the full season. Weekly participants will be assigned a number before each race at the Snow School desk. Racers in the U8 category are allowed to have one parent run the course with them - race time is based on the participant only and this run will count as the participants only run.

Prizes

After each race - participants from that race will have their name entered once into a draw to win a $50 Sir Sam's gift card. Medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for each category will be presented.

After the final race - participants will have their name entered into a draw as many times as they have raced during the season for a chance to win a $500 Sir Sam's gift card (must have competed in 3 races and the final). There will also be a prize table of locally donated items.

Award ceremonies will occur around 3pm in the chalet at the back of the restaurant. You must be present to collect your prize if your name is drawn.

Race Categories:

Skiing - Men & Ladies

U8 (3-7 yrs old) (birth years 2018-2022)
U12 (8-11 yrs old) (birth years 2014-2017)
U14 (12-13 yrs old) (birth years 2012-2013)
U18 (14-17 yrs old) (birth years 2008-2011)
Adult (18-45 yrs old) (birth years 1980-2007)
Senior (45+ yrs old) (birth year 1979 or earlier)
Elite

**Once you have placed 1st in your category (with a minimum of 3 participants in that category) 3 times you will be moved up to the next age group. Adult & Senior categories will move to the Elite category.

Snowboarding - Men & Ladies

3-15 yrs old (birth years 2010-2022)
16+ yrs old (birth year 2009 or earlier)

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I Have to Be Present at the Award Ceremony to Receive My Medal?

No, if you miss the award ceremony and are entitled to a medal, you can visit the Snow School and they will give you your medal. You must be present at the ceremony to receive a gift card if your name is drawn.

What Happens If I Miss a Race and I Signed Up for the Entire Series?

Nothing happens. There are no refunds or credits for this and your absence will be considered a missed run. You will not be eligible for that week's $50 gift card draw. You must participate in at least 4 Sunday races to be eligible to participate in the final Saturday race and have a chance to win a $500 gift card.

Why Do Some Racers Move Into a Different Age Category Partway Through the Season?

Once a racer achieves three first-place finishes in their category, they will be moved up to the next age category for the rest of the season. Racers in the Adult and Senior categories will be moved to Elite. Snowboard racers and categories with less than four participants are exempt from this rule.
