About Private Lessons
A private lesson is customized for you, providing you with a greater ability to learn. Extend your private lesson experience and book a series of lessons with the same instructor. The relationship you build with your instructor over multiple lessons will help you reach your goals sooner. All Sir Sam’s instructors are certified with the Professional Ski Instructors of Canada, Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance, the Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors, the Canadian Freestyle Association, Canadian Adaptive Snowsports, and/or Alpine Ontario.

A Snow Pro will advise you on how to safely ski with and teach your child to ski. Included is how to use a rope system with your little one. The adult must already be a proficient skier.

Private Lesson Check-In Information
On the day of your lesson, visit the Snow School desk to check-in. The participant will be given their lesson card and shown where to meet their instructor. Plan to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your lesson start time to ensure you are ready when instructing begins. More time may be required if having to go through the rental shop. Arriving late to your lesson will result in a shortened or missed lesson without the opportunity for a credit or refund.

Lift Tickets
Lift tickets are not included in lesson fees. All participants require a valid season pass or lift ticket for the duration of the lesson. It is recommended that lift tickets are purchased online in advance of your lesson. Lift tickets can be picked up at the ticket office.

Rental Equipment
Rental equipment is not included in lesson fees. If rental equipment is required, it is recommended that it is purchased online in advance of your lesson. Rental forms can be picked up at the ticket office. Once finished with equipment for the day, return all items to the rental shop. If rentals are booked for consecutive days, your equipment will be set aside for quick pick up the next day.

Cancellation or rescheduling requests must be sent via email to snowschool@sirsams.com.

Rescheduling private lessons within 48 hours of the reservation date will incur a $20 fee per lesson.

Private lessons cancelled within 48 hours of the lesson date will incur a $25 fee per lesson.
Missed/Late Dates
Refunds and credits are unavailable if you arrive late or miss your lesson.

Hill Closures
Lessons will run as scheduled regardless of weather unless the hill is closed for all daily operations. If the hill is closed, all lessons will be cancelled. Full refunds will be returned to the credit card used to reserve the lesson. ​​​
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I Need a Lift Ticket If I Am Only Taking a Lesson and Don't Plan to Ski Afterwards?
​Yes, you will need a valid lift ticket or season pass for for the entire duration of the lesson. Lift tickets are not included in private lesson fees.​
Can I Request a Specific Instructor?
Yes, you can request an instructor at the time of booking. However, you must know their name as we don't keep record of private lesson assignments.
Can I Join My Child on the Lesson?
A parent can join a semi-private lesson with a child aged 7+ if both are at the same ability level. If a parent wants to join a child aged 6 or under, consider a Parent & Tot lesson where an instructor will advise the parent on how to successfully ski with and teach their child how to ski. Parents are not to supervise or ski alongside a private lesson as the child will become distracted during instruction time. You are welcome to watch your child's lesson from the viewing areas on the chalet sundeck or picnic table area at the bottom of the hill. Foot traffic is not allowed on the hills.
What Are My Options If My Child Won't Participate in the Lesson that I Have Pre-Booked?
Unfortunately, we can not offer refunds or a make-up lesson. We have to pay the instructor for their time. If you are unsure if they will go with the instructor without you consider a Parent & Tot lesson where a parent can tag along.
Can I Put Two Children Aged 6 or Under in a Semi-Private Lesson Together?
No, all children 6 & under must participate in one-on-one private lessons. If you have two children that would like to stay together, you can ask their instructors to instruct nearby each other for the duration of the lesson when you drop them off.
When do I need to be back to pick up my child?
Lessons will return back to the starting place 5 mins prior to the finish of the lesson, this gives the instructor time to chat with you about the progress made during the lesson before they have to head out with their next lesson.
Do I Have to Decide When Booking If the Lesson is for Skiing or Snowboarding or Can I Switch Partway Through a Lesson?
We must know ahead of time which type of lesson you would like as it would require a different instructor. For this reason, you are unable to switch a snowboarding lesson to a skiing lesson or vice-versa partway through a lesson.
Can I Book a Semi-Private Lesson With One Person on Skis and One On a Snowboard?
No, each type of lesson (skiing or snowboarding) requires a unique instructor that is certified in their respective discipline.
